[WASHINGTON] —The Acacia Center for Justice joined a coalition of more than 80 immigrant rights groups in a letter delivered to the Biden-Harris administration yesterday expressing strong opposition to the proposed Border Act of 2024.

Shaina Aber, executive director of the Acacia Center for Justice, said, “This letter is a signal to any administration – current or future – that community leaders and human rights organizations strongly oppose border legislation that denies due process rights to people seeking safety, expands immigrant detention, and separates families. We urge President Biden and his successor to reject harmful legislation that repeats past mistakes and undermines our ideals, and remember that most Americans want a fair, orderly, and humane immigration system that treats people with dignity.
