WASHINGTON – The Acacia Center for Justice announced the launch of its Academic Advisory Board, comprised of leading academics and social scientists, to collaborate with the organization’s Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics team on research-driven publications to educate members of the public on issues relating to legal access for people navigating the U.S. immigration system.
Shaina Aber, executive director of Acacia, said: “We are grateful for the invaluable contributions of our Academic Advisory Board members. Particularly at a time of dramatic changes in immigration policy and practice – with due process and meaningful access to justice under attack – we strive to cultivate understanding about the critical needs promoted through effective legal access and legal representation.”
“The Advisory Board members are leaders in their respective fields, representing a diverse range of specializations and expertise, including constitutional and immigration law, child development, and the intersection of the immigration and criminal legal systems,” added Phil Kretsedemas, managing director of Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics at Acacia. “We look forward to their partnership and guidance in building fact-based, data-driven analysis outlining the positive impact of programs that provide legal access and defense for communities throughout the nation.”
