Ruben Ortiz

Principal Research and Evaluation Manager (UCP)

Ruben is the Principal Research and Evaluation Manager for the Unaccompanied Children Program. Before joining Acacia, he served as Director of Research & Evaluation at the Center for Policing Equity and as a social scientist at the Economic Research Service, focusing on social and economic disparities. Ruben has also worked as a statistical research consultant and taught advanced quantitative methods at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus on Criminology and Statistics and has published extensively on social justice, equity, and community well-being. Based in Massachusetts, he is passionate about connecting data with purpose to drive social change and enjoys spending time in nature, finding inspiration in its resilience and beauty.
