Yleana is a Senior Program Associate for the Unaccompanied Children Program and comes to Acacia with a wealth of immigration knowledge. Prior to Acacia, she worked at the intersection of health and immigration, where she sought to expand access to healthcare for seriously ill undocumented New Yorkers. In her other positions, she represented immigrants in both affirmative and defensive proceedings and mentored pro bono and new attorneys in immigration law. Yleana earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. from Brown University. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and son. She enjoys long walks, good books, and coffee.
